In a world torn asunder by plague, war, famine, and widespread infertility, the monarchies cling tightly to the last remnants of control by ruling with an iron fist. A new revolution called Influism threatens to awaken the masses from their subjugating rulers. The Legion of Liberty, a small group of military veterans, fights for universal freedom in a time when hope is lost. When all but one of the Legion's New Elid charter is put to death by the authorities of Terismark, the founding charter must sneak across hostile territory to rescue him. Upon arrival in New Elid, their well-laid plans are thrown off-course by something much more sinister.
